A client does not read GitHub like a technical recruiter
Many clients will not inspect every commit. They look for quick signals: what you built, who it helped, what problem it solved and whether the project is understandable.
Select a few repositories aligned with the work you want. Incomplete archives and random experiments do not need to be profile highlights.
A README is a small sales page
Open with problem, outcome and audience. Add screenshots, reproducible instructions, important decisions and project status. Do not begin with a wall of dependencies.
If code cannot be public, create a case study explaining context, ownership, constraints and impact without revealing client information.
Show quality beyond quantity
Tests, deployment automation, clear issues and readable commits show how you collaborate and maintain software. One small complete project beats ten abandoned demos.
Open-source contributions and documentation show an ability to enter existing systems, communicate changes and respond to feedback.
Connect the profile to the opportunities you want
State technologies, domains, availability and desired project types. A generic profile receives generic matching.
Freelance Fast begins with GitHub and adds your preferences. Visible specialization and outcomes mean fewer irrelevant notifications and better conversations.
